Little Tokyo, where the life is(笑)

1. Yagura – Japanese Village Plaza

The tower in front of Japanese Village Plaza.

2. Ellison Onizuka Monument – Weller Court

Ellison Onizuka is a Japanese astronaut was the first Asian-American to reach space.


3. Go For Broke monument – North side of MOCA and Japanese American National Museum

 The Go For Broke Monument was built in 1999 to commemorate Japanese American soldiers who fought during World War II.


4. Japanese American Community Cultural Center – Japanese Garden (East side of building – Lower area) Open to public.

The JACCC is the largest center of Asian American culture in the US.

5. Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple – visit after 10am. You may enter the Temple after 10am.

6. Kyoto Grand Hotel – Restaurant and Japanese Garden (Rooftop of Weller Court)

Kyoto Grand Hotel features a Japanese-style garden.

7. Imagawayaki – Mitsuru Café (Food Item)

Imagawayaki is a Japanese dessert. It is a little cake filled with sweet azuki bean paste, though other fillings are popular as well.

8. Tako Yaki – Mitsuru Café (Food Item)

Takoyaki is an octopus-filled dumpling. In fact, it's my favorite.


9. Statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya

Kinjiro Ninomiya was a prominent 19th century agricultural leader, philosopher, and economist.

10. Fugetsudo – Japanese Village Plaza

Various kinds of dessert from Fugetsudo.

11. Mikawaya – Japanese Village Plaza
Mochi ice cream from Mikawaya sweets shop. I tried this and it was satisfying.

12.Kinokuniya Bookstore – Weller Court


Kinokuniya bookstore offers both Japanese and English books. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go inside.

14. Jungle – Collector’s Shop – Animation and Japanese TV collectibles – Japanese Village Plaza

The Jungle Collectorl' Shop. The heaven for Gundam figures and anime goods collectors.


15. Marukai Market – Weller Court

Marukai sells Japanese home, grocery, and health products.


16. Tokyo Japanese Outlet – Japanese Village Plaza


Tokyo Japanese Outlet sells Japanese lifestyle item. This includes clothing, kitchenware, household items, and entertainment.


17. Bunka-do

Bunka-do is a gift shop offering many Japanese cultural items. They sell household decor, kitchenware, and various other gift items.


18. Anzen Hardware

Which means 'safety hardware' in Japanese, Anzen Hardware has first opened in 1933 and has provided home convenients and hardwares since then.

19. SK Uyeda Department Store

SK Uyeda Department Store sells a huge variety of Japanese items, from furniture to kimonos to kitchenware.

20. Rafu Bussan – 2nd street in front of Japanese Village Plaza


Rafu Bussan is a gift store filled with traditional Japanese items.

21. unique ways of displaying food of Weller Court – Multi level Restaurants

This picture shows the unique way of displying food in the Weller Court.


22. Izakaya

Izakaya is a Japanese restaurant that primarily serves alcoholic drinks along with food.


23. Japanese American National Museum

Unfortunately, I'm not in this picture which it would make the picture much better if i were.


24. Museum of Contemporary Art: MOCA

The MOCA contains American and European works of art created since the 1940s.

25. The Frying Fish – Revolving Sushi Bar

Sushi bar that offers mobile conveyer belt to deliver sushi plates. Looks good.


26. Koyasan Buddhist Temple – Hidden Buddhist Temple on 1st street next to Japanese Village Plaza


A Buddhist Temple located at Little Tokyo.
Apparently, this one is very cryptic and hidden. I didn't have an oppurtunity to visit here.


27.Little Tokyo Marketplace


Little Tokyo Marketplace is where restaurants and markets are located.

Overall, we had a lot of fun at Little Tokyo. I will definitely go again with my friends to look around the places that we haven't got to visit unfortunately due to a lack of time.
